Work

  • Hours ~ Workers spend on average 7 hours a day at work keeping Sunday as a day of rest. Though overtime is encouraged, there is a limit of 8 hours at the factory. This is because we believe it to be more effective to work few hours concentrating to work at high standards than many hours at a satisfactory level. The time away from the factory means that the work space is associated only with hard work which increases the focus of our workers whilst the time away  increases morale as it gives time for family so their personal life is not comprimised by the working life as seen with many companies which are not fairtrade. There is to be NO use of forced labour.

  •  Overtime ~ Workers choose themselves whether they want to work overtime and are paid the same amount as their usual wage to reward them for their extra effort. The factory closes on Sundays as the day of rest but workers are still paid.

  • Amenities ~ The factory is supplied  with separate toilets for men and women, fresh water and each has their own separate working space that they come back to every day. These work stations are equipt with all the machines needed for their job and lockable draws for their personal possessions for a more homely and positive environment. A kitchen is provided for the catering staff and an outdoor community area is provided with seating to give the workers a place to eat, bond and get fresh air at lunchbreaks. This designated area for meals also keeps the work stations cleaner and more hygienic.

Because Little by little,

a Little becomes a lot!
